Ghost Lovers is a four-piece band out of Queen Creek, Arizona — formed, as they put it, with “sugar, spice, everything nice, and a little bit of freakiness.” Part indie rock, part guitar class chaos, and all charm, the band blends catchy melodies with emotionally-rooted lyrics, drawing influence from acts like The Backseat Lovers, Mac DeMarco, and Phoneboy. Their sound? They describe it as a Polaroid. Not retro for retro’s sake — but a snapshot of a feeling, a moment, a memory you thought you forgot until a melody brought it rushing back.
SNQLX: Let’s start simple — how did the band come together?
Ghost Lovers: We all kinda met together in school. Quinn and Luther were childhood friends while Rat and Alyssa met in a guitar class in school. The four of them met in guitar class and the rest is history.
SNQLX: Where does the name come from, and what does it mean to you now?
Ghost Lovers: The name originally came from the bands love of the supernatural. The bands name now means when you fall “Head Over Heels” 😉 for someone who ended up Ghosting you.
