Why SONIQPIX Exists

Music discovery is supposed to feel like a spark, not a chore.
Some weeks that spark comes from a band you’ve never heard of. Some weeks it comes from a brand-new release. And sometimes it’s a song from years back that suddenly fits the moment better than anything else.

SONIQPIX takes that energy and compresses it into three tracks — just enough to feel curated, not enough to feel overwhelming.

This is our version of flipping through a record bin, tapping someone on the shoulder, and going:

How We Choose Each Week’s SONIQPIX

Every SONIQPIX drop follows a simple three-tier selection method that keeps things balanced and intentional.

1. The Indie Pick

This is where we highlight an indie artist or band regardless of decade. It might be brand new. It might be from the mid-2000s. It might be something criminally slept on.
This is the “editor brain” pick — pure taste, no rules, no boundaries.

2. The Current Year Track

This slot is all about the present tense — a song released in the current year that’s shaping the moment.
Sometimes it’s buzzing. Sometimes it’s underrated. But it always says something about right now.

3. The Legacy Track

Music doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The Legacy Track reaches back into the archives — the 90s, 80s, 70s, or further — and pulls something foundational into the spotlight.
Old, but not dusty. Classic, but not cliché. A song that still hits.
